Jim Dowd's career began in 1982 working with investment homes while still attending the University of Colorado. He then moved to Anchorage Alaska where he worked as a commercial real estate broker leasing office space for Nelson Bunker Hunt of Dallas, Texas. In 1984 Jim relocated to Tampa, Florida Where he began his career as a Land Broker.

Since 1989, Dowd Properties has been a Land Brokerage Company in the state of Florida. Since 2000, we have been located in Disney’s town of Celebration just outside of Orlando. While Jim specializes in land in Florida, he also has experience in the land business in California, Colorado and Alaska. He specializes in representing both buyers and sellers of Single-Family, Multi-Family, Commercial and Investment tracts of land. Typically the tracts are for larger Residential Subdivisions, Apartment Projects and Retail Shopping Centers. Over the years his clients have included local, national and international home builders, commercial developers, multi-family developers and Investors.

As of January, 2025, Jim has been involved in over $1.5 Billion worth of land transactions.
